Modesty Or Insolence?

This weird photo appeared at Occidentalis, where the readers had a ball comparing the girl to a smurf (a "schtroumpf" in French, pictured at the left.

Actually the photo is from the home page of the Ahiida website, where you can find others showing young Muslim women in "active wear". Ahiida is described as "an Australian owned company that designs and produces quality swim and sportswear. Our garments are designed with the respect of Islamic values and aimed to enhance the lifestyle of the active Muslim female."

One reader sent this long comment, containing information I wasn't aware of, not being a swimmer, and never having been in a pool. (The ocean, yes, but I stay upright).

And when I think that ten years ago, in the majority of pools in France, it was strictly forbidden for men to bathe wearing their undershorts, for obvious reasons of hygiene!

Only lycra bathing trunks were allowed, and for women, a traditional one-piece or two-piece bathing suit made of lycra.

The truth is that the larger the surface of the cloth (even lycra), the greater the likelihood that germs will spread inside of the pool.

This is now especially true since so many of France's young "lucky charms", who spend time at the swimming pools, bathe in the same underwear that they wear all day long.

France's "lucky charms" are the immigrants. Chirac once told his people that they will bring good luck to the country.

You can imagine what will happen from the lack of hygiene in the pools as a result of these "sharia correct garments".

Not to mention the permanent sweating underneath this covering, when it's 90ยบ in the shade!

Germs will have a great time and we will be set up for new pool contaminations...

I don't know if his hygienic information is correct, but it's something that never occurred to me. For me, just the sight of such garments would put me off. Of course, in the 19th and early 20th centuries, women were covered at the beaches. The difference is that then, it was a custom of our own civilization, and now, it is an alien culture that is slowing taking over. A big difference.
